The study tour to Delhi for the 2nd and 3rd students this time explored the Modern architectural heritage done by Master architects in the 1960’s to 1980’s. The projects exposed the students to various aspects of Modern Indian architecture including siting, structure as an inherent architectural expression, materiality and architectural vocabulary. Documentation focussed on understanding the design approach and various aspects including planform, architectural elements, design analysis and the quotient of ‘timelessness’. The 3rd year focussed on the institutions done by the likes of Joseph Allen Stein, Charles Correa, Achyut Kanvinde and Raj Rewal, thus studying the design philosophy of these Master architects. While the 2nd year focussed on the formal housing designs done by Raj Rewal and Charles Correa and studies aspects related to masterplan, open space hierarchy and typologies along with community open spaces and architecture of the place. The students were also exposed to the Lutyens New-Delhi and a visit was planned to Sansad Bhavan briefing the students about the functioning of democratic affairs.
