83 Students of SSID 1 and SSID 2 along with a team of five Faculty members: Prof. Rikta Desai, Prof. Tejas Patel, Prof. Alpa Pandya, Prof. Nikunj Patel and Mr. Nitin Sondelia, visited Indore (Madhya Pradesh) for four days (18th Dec_ 21st Dec 2019) to study current trends of interior design in the city. The study began with a visit to Manish Kumat Design Cell where renowned Designer Mr. Manish Kumat conducted a very informative session with students. The sustainable and innovative design strategies were well explained by the designer and his team through which students got a good insight of his design philosophy and methodology. As Indore is famous for its delicious food in the country, the focus of study was to explore cafe and food culture of the city. Students visited different theme based contemporary cafes and studied various aspects related to interiors of cafes. Along with it students also explored interiors of various shopping malls and co-working spaces of the city. The study was also noticed and documented by a local E-media group of the city, which shall be soon telecasted as city news on their YouTube channel – ‘Xpose Today.’ On the last day the group explored the local market, Cuisine and heritage sites of the city like Chappan Dukan, Sarafa Bazaar (ChatoriGali),Rajwada, KanchMandir, Krishna PuraChhatri, GopalMandir, LaxmiMandir etc..It was indeed a great experience to enjoy and study the cleanest city of the country. The students are currently working on documentation of the study on the various aspects like, Theme of café with its layout plan, sections, services, furniture details and overall aesthetics, Ambience and experience about the space and place.
