Students of B. Arch II Semester III along with a team of five Faculty members visited Jambughoda from 8 to 10 December for a Study tour. The students studied four villages Paniyara, Kattkoi, Bobda Kua, and Saddra. These villages were specially documented as they had a distinctive typology of settlement based on their livelihood of farming, cattle rearing and pottery. All villages were situated in the vale surrounded by hilly tracts. The students studied clusters, individual housing units and the settlement pattern. They also visited UNESCO World heritage site - Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park to understand unique features of buildings like Jama Masjid, with its unique blend of Gurjara-Pratihara style of Architecture and the Sultanate Islamic style. The visit created an opportunity to study the organic settlement pattern in rural areas and to understand linkages between human livelihood and biodiversity in culturally rich areas creating avenues for ecotourism.
