The Institute organized an expert lecture on “Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Urban Resilience: Best Practices” on 19th November 2025 for M.Plan. – 3rd Semester Students as a part of Disaster Management Subject.
The session was delivered by Ms. Dhvani Trivedi, Urban Designer at NIUA, who shared insights on emerging challenges faced by urban areas and the need for sustainable, resilient planning approaches. She highlighted practical frameworks, case studies, and national initiatives that guide climate-responsive development. Students gained valuable understanding of adaptive strategies, risk-sensitive planning, and the role of urban designers in strengthening community resilience. The lecture proved highly informative, encouraging students to integrate resilience thinking into professional practice.
Miss Dhvani Trivedi was the speaker for the lecture. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from SCET and a Master’s degree in Planning with a specialization in Urban Design from CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
Dhvani Trivedi is an Urban Designer at the National Institute of Urban Affairs and currently leads the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in Surat. With nearly eight years of experience in architecture, spatial planning, and sustainable urban practices, she has worked closely with key authorities such as the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA).
